6 Little Luxuries to Indulge Your Senses Every Day

Close your eyes and imagine complete sensory bliss. What does that look like for you? In the midst of busy work weeks, family happenings and the seemingly million responsibilities that adulthood requires, I love to find ways to create special little ways to indulge the senses on a daily basis. These small, but mighty, little treats can feel like mini spa days or pieces of zen. They are the important breaks that my brain and body so badly need and deserve.

Though I rarely have hours to devote to relaxation, there are many ways to be able to introduce small practices, products or habits that can give a little bit of indulgence in daily life. Here are some of my favorites.

Yoga

Yoga is the first thing that I do in the morning when I wake up at 5am. I work to get this practice in before the whole house wakes up. Let’s be honest…depending on how tired I am, some days I’m more successful than others. If I really get a good start, sometimes I’ll light a candle and make it an extra lovely. Some days I’m bending and stretching between kids and dogs. Either way, I find a great bit of benefit from morning movement. I don’t leave the house for my practice, or I won’t get it done. I do it in my dining room with a favorite YouTube instructor. It isn’t fancy, but it is foundational.

My favorite YouTube channels are Yoga with Adriene and Sarabeth Yoga.

Candles

Candles are one of my favorite ways to create an environment that feels luxurious. They are the perfect topper after a long day of cleaning house. To sit down, put your feet up and light a candle is the best way to finish the job. Even a messy room feels a little bit better with a candle burning in it. I have candles burning in my house all the time and love to rotate them in the seasons. Something floral in the spring, something fresh and bright in the summer, something spicy in the fall and something warm and cozy in the winter. I love letting nature take the lead in fragrance selection.

I do try to always be conscious of the type of wax I am burning to ensure they are clean burning!

A few of my favorite places for candles are:

Solana - Kerns Creamery is burning in my house right now!

Anthropologie - Capri Blue Volcano is a staple

Golden Slipper - Juniper, Sage, Pear

Ranger Station - Leather + Pine, Hinoki Rituals

Wandering Lark - Winter Berry

Linnea - Heirloom Tomato

Trader Joe’s - Seasonal limited edition candles

Epsom Salt Baths

I’ve begun incorporating an epsom salt bath into my weekly Sunday night ritual. It is a great way to ensure I get a restful night sleep on Sunday to start the week fresh. Guys, it isn’t a pretty picture…I have a tiny bath tub and the water only cover half of my thighs, but nonetheless, this is something that I cherish. So what if I can only soak one cheek at a time :) My favorite Epsom Salts for soaking are Dr. Teals Restore and Replenish Pink Himalayan Soak.

Countertop Spray

Add a little luxury into cleaning the kitchen! I fell in love with countertop sprays by Caldrea and have tried many of the fragrances. My favorite is Basil Blue Sage and is something that I end with each time I wipe down the kitchen. It is such a lovely fragrance that is fresh and crisp.

Cozy in a Cup

Setting aside 10 minutes to savor a hot cup of coffee or tea is the perfect way to carve out a little time and space to enjoy the warmth, fragrance and flavor of a beloved beverage. I love this practice in the morning or tea before bed. My favorites include:

An almond milk latte with honey

Hot Cinnamon Sunset by Harney and Sons

Earl Grey by Harney and Sons

Relax and Digest by Bee My Tea (This is a local tea maker that I found at a small boutique near me, but I can’t find a website for them. I imagine this would be a similar option, though I have not tried it.

Relax and Digest by Monterey Bay Herb Company

Linen Spray

A spritz of relaxation on the sheets before you put your head on the pillow can go a long way. I have a Homemade Linen Spray recipe I’m excited to share with you. It is originally from Milk Glass Home and is a favorite of mine to make and gift! If you’d rather not make your own, I highly recommend Slow North’s different linen spray options.

There you have it friends! I hope you can find some glimmers of luxurious indulgence in small ways in the midst of busy, everyday life. Sending you so much love!

With your purchase on some of these items, I receive a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for your support!
